Overview
Tamang Heritage Trek 14 days combines the most epic trail along with major cultural attractions of Tamang people residing between Ganesh Himal and Langtang range. Starting in Syabrubesi which can be reached within a day drive from Kathmandu, the route takes in spectacular views of snow capped Himalayan peaks, quaint Tamang villages, alpine meadows and plenty of glacial lakes. The scenic route offers the magnificent views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Yala Peak, Naya Khang, Gosainkunda range and surrounding peaks.
This remote mountain trek usually begins from Syabrubesi and heads up Trishuli and Goljung valley to end up at Gatlang village. The one way route snakes ups and downs towards Tatopani followed by Nagthali village offering an amazing opportunity to experience the rustic lifestyle of the mountainous region. This trek includes a traverse along Tamang villages with awesome views of bordering Tibet region, and then onwards to Kyanjin Gompa with a side trip to Chorka Ri, a place many consider the perfect vantage point for stunning views of Langtang valley, Langtang range and surrounding landscapes.
The native Tamang people follow Tibetan Buddhism, and their culture and traditions closely resemble neighboring Tibetans. Throughout the journey, you’ll behold the sights of prayer flags, prayer wheels, chortens and mani stones along the trail. Plus, you’ll have an opportunity to interact with the locals and get to know the rich cultural wonders of this region.
