Everest Base Camp Heli Trek 11 days offers you an amazing opportunity to hike Everest Base Camp, one of the best hiking trails in the world, and return back to Kathmandu via luxury helicopter ride from Gorakh Shep.

This hike is an absolute adventure plus luxury, and if you’re looking to enjoy the magnificent beauty of the world’s highest peak- Mount Everest along with other peaks, then this is the best way to take it on. Not only you’ll soak up in scenic mountain views along the journey, but also you’ll rejoice in the aerial views of the stunning Himalayan giants in the comfort of a helicopter ride.

Further, this trek is hosted by Sherpas, the original inhabitants of the Everest region, offering delicious meals and a cozy night stay at teahouses.

Starting from Lukla, the entire trail is epic, with raging Dudh Koshi River on the side. Namche town and Dingboche are two ideal spots for acclimatization, where we spend each day hiking to nearby Hotel Everest View and Nangkartshang Peak, respectively.

From there, you’ll have the best views of surrounding peaks and beautiful valleys. The sights of suspension bridges, Sherpa villages decorated with prayer flags, mani stones, mani walls, herds of yaks, and mules are truly spellbinding along the way.

The final stretch past the village of Lobuche and Gorakh Shep leads to Everest Base Camp, where you’ll behold the sights of Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall. From Gorakh Shep, you’ll hike to Kala Patthar, the perfect vantage point for watching sunrise views over the Himalayan peaks.

From there, you can see the closest panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and other peaks. Next, we fly back to Kathmandu on a luxurious heli flight overlooking the snow-capped peaks and mountain villages.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu! Upon your arrival, our airport representative will pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport, and then transfer to your hotel room. Catch the first glimpse of Kathmandu on your way.

There are no particular activities scheduled for this day, so you have other options. You can take a rest in the comfort of the hotel room, or stroll around the bustling streets of Kathmandu. If you need to buy trekking gears or explore Nepalese restaurants and cafes, you can go to Thamel, a popular tourist hub in the town.

Day 2
Fly to Lukla (2,804 m) and Trek to Phakding (2,610 m)

We take a scenic flight to Lukla in the morning. Lukla Airport is the only airstrip in the Everest region, and it’s the gateway to Everest Base Camp. Upon arriving there, we’ll meet porters who’ll help us in carrying our luggage bags.

From there, our trekking journey starts as we follow the beautiful trail on the side of Dudh Koshi River. After a short walk, we reach Chheplung with the first view of Mt. Khumbila ahead of us. Then, we pass by Thado Koshi village, cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and follow the trail that leads to Ghat village. A half an hour walk away from Ghat takes us to Phakding where we stay overnight there.

Note: Kathmandu to Lukla flight has been rerouted to nearby Manthali Airport, Ramechhap in peak season (March, April, May, October and November) due to congestion in Kathmandu airport. Manthali can be reached within a 5-6 hour drive from Kathmandu.

Day 3
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,441 m)

After breakfast, we follow the trails enjoying the sights of Dudh Koshi River on the side. The trail rises gently up through forests filled with rhododendrons and magnolias, and after passing by the village of Monjo, you come across the gate of Sagarmatha National Park.

Afterwards, you walk through Jorsale village, then hike across the Khumbu River and cross a suspension bridge. Then begins the final ascent of Namche Bazaar. Along the way, you’re welcomed by the first view of Mt. Everest, and continuing on the trail leads to Namche Town.

Day 4
Acclimatization Hike around Namche Bazaar

We spend our rest day acclimatizing and preparing ourselves to get to higher altitude regions where the density of oxygen gradually declines as we go up. So, we take a short hike to visit the Museum and Hotel Everest View, one of the highest placed hotels on the earth.

After breakfast, we stroll through the streets of lively Namche town to visit Sagarmatha National Park Museum. You’ll see the statue of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first person to ascent Mt. Everest along with his friend Sir Edmund Hillary. Here, you get to know many things about the history of Everest region, culture and traditions of native Sherpas and the natural biodiversity of this mountainous region.

From here, we head to Hotel Everest View which is a great spot to view the magnificent Himalayan giants. Rejoice in the panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tabuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Kantega and surrounding peaks. Then, back to the hotel. Enjoy the beautiful landscape of Namche nestled in the Himalayas.

Day 5
Trek to Tengboche (3,860 m)

Another beautiful trekking day in the Everest region. Leaving Namche, we hike through the forests filled with rhododendrons, past glacial rivers while enjoying the mountain views on the way. Upon reaching Sanasa, you’ll be rewarded with the views of Mt. Ama Dablam and other snow capped peaks and Tengboche Monastery on the faraway ridge.

From this point, you’ll see another trail on the left that leads to Gokyo Valley. We continue on the Everest trail and gradually descend through the evergreens. Continuing on, you’ll make several ascent and descent along the switchbacking trails before arriving at Tengboche.

Walking by the small teahouses and mani walls carved with Buddhist prayers, we come across the Tengboche Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in the Khumbu region. In the evening, you can attend the services and experience the rituals of Tibetan Buddhism practices. Enjoy your evening watching the beautiful landscape and surrounding views of Mt. Ama Dablam.

Day 6
Trek to Dingboche (4,350 m)

We start the day hiking through the forests, walk up and down the hills to reach Pangboche village. There lies a Pangboche Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the Everest region. From here, you are treated with beautiful views of Imja Khola River to Ama Dablam Base Camp, and the scenic mountain views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam.

Continuing on the rocky trail above Imja Khola, we pass by the villages of Somare and Orsho before arriving at Pheriche. Then, begins the ascend towards Dingboche village with amazing views of Island Peak, Lhotse, Ama Dablam on the way.

Day 7
Acclimatization Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083 m)

Till now, we’ve gained an altitude above 4,000 m, so it’s important to take a rest day to prepare ourselves for higher regions. Staying one more day at Dingboche helps us in acclimatizing.

Today, we hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083 m) which is the perfect vantage point to see the views of Dingboche village, Imja Khola Valley and surrounding peaks. From there, you can indulge in magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Taboche and Lobuche peak. Then, back down to Dingboche for our overnight stay.

Day 8
Trek to Lobuche (4,910 m)

Leaving Dingboche, the trail rises up gently through strewn grasslands with rocks where you encounter stone yak herder shelters on the way. Upon crossing a bridge, and climbing uphill leads to Pheriche nestled in a windswept valley followed by Thugla village.

Next, an hour walking on the trail, you’ll come across stone memorials built in the memory of perished climbers during the Everest expedition. En route, you can catch breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khumbutse, Lingtren and Pumori. Continuing on, you’ll notice the ever changing terrain with thinned vegetation and rocky path all the way to Lobuche.

Day 9
Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,365 m) and then Back to Gorak Shep (5,180 m)

It’s a beautiful yet challenging trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp. The first section of the trail is narrow and rocky that rises gently through the moraine of Khumbu Glacier towards Gorak Shep. On the way, you’re rewarded with the beautiful views of Everest, Nuptse and Pumori.

The last section of the trail from Gorakh Shep continues along the glacial ridge all the way to Everest Base Camp. You can see many expedition camps at the Base Camp especially during springtime.

There’s a large rock surrounded with prayer flags at the edge of Camp which is a perfect spot for group photos. Celebrate your moments at the base of the world’s highest peak with your teammates. After celebrating our magical moments at the top of the world, we trek back to Gorakh Shep where we spend a night there.

Day 10
Hike up to Kala Patthar (5,555 m), Back to Gorakh Shep and Helicopter Flight back to Kathmandu

In the morning, we hike to Kala Patthar which is the perfect vantage point for the close up views of the Himalayan giants. From here, you can revel in the magnificent sunrise views over the Himalayas. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, Chagatse and neighbouring peaks. You’ll experience the best view of our entire trip from here.

Then, we hike back to Gorakh Shep from where we fly back to Kathmandu on an epic helicopter flight. Enjoy the spectacular views of the beautiful Everest region and mid hills in the comfort of a helicopter ride. You’ll arrive back at your hotel. In the evening, you can enjoy the farewell dinner and celebrate your adventurous journey with your teammates.

Day 11
Final Departure

Our Everest Base Camp Heli Trek 11 days concludes today. Our staff will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. We hope you enjoy trekking with us and hope to see you in near future. Namaste, and have a safe journey.
