After a long day drive to Pokhara and overnight stay by Fewa lake, you will commence a trek from Nayapul following a trail, climbing stone steps towards the traditional villages of the higher region. The route takes in a great opportunity for cultural immersion, including Ghorepani and Chhomrong, the fascinating Gurungs and Magars villages in the region surrounded by Annapurna Massif.

During the sojourn, you’ll stay in mid-trail guesthouses, where you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy delicious traditional local dishes and learn more about Nepali people and their culture.

The trail winds its way through terraced paddy fields and lush forests filled with diverse wildlife and vegetation, offering a fascinating insight into the majestic mountains of the Annapurna region.

What’s more, the breathtaking sunrise views over the panoramic Himalayan peaks: Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Lamjung, and Annapurna ranges are seen from Poon hill have much more sense of wonder and a rewarding experience on your journey.

Then comes the tough part, the trail climbs up with a series of switchbacks that takes you to the Annapurna Base Camp, a breathtaking and fascinating spot to soak in the sights of Annapurna I. From there, the trek continues from Base Camp to Bamboo along the Modi Khola river and then comes to an end at Jhinu. There, you can experience a refreshing bath; being the natural hot spring, it is known to have healing properties.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative picks you up and transfers you to your hotel. Take a rest. In the evening, you can enjoy your leisure activities, stroll around Thamel, explore local markets, shop trekking gear and equipment, try Nepalese dishes, and many more.

Day 2
Guided Sightseeing around heritage sites of Kathmandu

Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, represents not only the administrative center but also it has the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites representing the religious and cultural diversity of the country. On this day, we pay a visit to four major heritage sites starting with Pashupatinath Temple in the morning. This temple complex is filled with devotees and sadhus, where you can get to know the rites and rituals of Hindus at best.

Then, you’ll check into Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world. Just being here, you’ll experience the peace and tranquility of this magnificent place. Around the stupa, there are shops to buy Buddhist souvenirs, Thangkas, and other essentials.

Another main attraction is Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Durbar Square complexes are filled with temples, monuments, and statues built by ancient kings that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and some of them are even older. Though the earthquake has damaged several monuments, the construction work is still going on here.

Next, we visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the holiest places of both Buddhists and Hindus. Also known as Monkey temple, you’ll spot many monkeys wandering around the Stupas. You can enjoy the scenic view of Kathmandu valley from this vantage point on the hilltop.

Day 3
Drive to Pokhara

Today, our trek commences early in the morning with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The journey continues along the highway following the Trishuli river, past some beautiful scenery of green valleys and vibrant towns before reaching Pokhara.

This beautiful tourist destination of Nepal is popular for many reasons, especially adventurous activities like paragliding, boating, trekking, bungee jumping, and many more. The views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna ranges seen from there are truly breathtaking.

Day 4
Drive to Nayapul (1,010 m) and Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,570 m)

After having breakfast, you’ll have an early start driving from Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. Today’s trek will be shorter and quite easier. From there, the first section of the trail continues through the north bank of Bhurungdi Khola and steadily climbs up to Hille. Soon afterward, you’ll ascend on a lovely trail before arriving at Tikhedhunga.

Day 5
Trek to Ghorepani (2,840 m)

Today’s hike starts with a steep ascent along a river trail to Ulleri, where the mountain views are so spectacular at every turn. En route, enjoy the magnificent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Hiuchuli. Continuing to climb through rhododendron forests, the trail leads to Nangethati, where you can experience pristine wilderness, crossing streams, and rivers along the way. From there, an hour walk takes us into Ghorepani, a beautiful village in Annapurna foothills surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Day 6
Hike up to Poon Hill (3,210 m) and Trek to Tadapani (2,610 m)

Today’s hike is full of splendid mountain views. Poon hill is a popular vantage point for panoramic views of the mighty Annapurna ranges and Dhaulagiri ranges. Early in the morning, we head into Poon Hill to watch sunrise views over the snow capped peaks. The views of the first rays of the sun spreading over the Himalayas as far as the eye can see is truly breathtaking.

Heading back down the Ghorepani for breakfast, you continue to climb through forests of rhododendron towards Deurali. Soon afterwards, the trail leads to another village of Banthanti before arriving at Tadapani for our overnight stay. Located at the foothills, you can enjoy the stunning views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna South and many more peaks from there.

Day 7
Trek to Sinuwa (2,360 m)

Leaving Tadapani, we continue ascending again, the trail rises gently up the valley, passing terraced paddy fields which offer magnificent views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre all the way to Kimrong Dada. You head towards the bottom of the valley, descend to Kimrong Khola and then climb uphill to Taulung.

We hike for a few hours to reach Chomrong, a vibrant village situated on the Annapurna foothills. From here, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Annapurna South and Himal Chuli. Then, you’ll walk into a steep descent, cross the bridge over Chhomrong river and then make your ascent towards the village of Sinuwa, where we spend a night there.

Day 8
Trek to Deurali (3,200 m)

Starting the morning with a gentle stroll along the trail, you pass through villages of Khuldighar and then trek down to Bamboo. From here, you climb gradually to the beautiful Modi Khola river valley followed by lush forests filled with rhododendrons, oaks and bamboo.

Soon afterwards, hiking along the exposed ridge leads up to Dobhan, and then the trail gently climbs through the hillside forests towards Hinku cave. From there, you continue to climb uphill to Deurali enjoying views of waterfalls and valleys crossing along the way.

Day 9
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)

Up early for an incredible hike to Annapurna Base Camp today. Get ready for some wild experience and soak up in beautiful scenery. Continuing on the trail, you will reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp from where the views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Annapurna South and Gangapurna look most imposing. Due to its strategic location surrounded by mountains, this place is known as Annapurna Sanctuary.

Walking on, you’ll see the lateral moraine of South Annapurna Glacier along the route. Another 3 hours of hiking in the alpine trail takes us into magical Annapurna Base Camp. Enjoy the unobstructed views of Annapurna I, the 10th highest peak in the world and experience the true wilderness of this beautiful spot.

Day 10
Trek to Bamboo (2345 m)

Today, we trek back from Base Camp to Bamboo. Prepare yourself for rejoicing in the incredible vistas of the Himalayas, as you trek back down to the lower altitude region. This spectacular day hike continues through the familiar trail, through native forest offering amazing sceneries along the way.

Day 11
Trek to Jhinu (1,780 m)

Heading into the wilderness, the trail comes to close as you hike back to Jhinu. You walk along the beautiful trails, through the woods and meadows, and enjoy a natural hot spring bath at Jhinu. In the evening, it’s a perfect way to refresh yourself after a long day’s hike, enjoying the sunset views over the magnificent Himalayan peaks.

Day 12
Trek to Nayapul (1,010 m), Drive to Pokhara

The end section of the trek continues from Jhinu to Nayapul. Leaving the mountain behind us, we walk along the Modi Khola river trail, passing Birethanti village followed by Nayapul.

From there, we take a drive to Pokhara where you can indulge in boating activities at pristine Fewa lake. We pay a visit to Barahi temple located at the middle of the lake, and revel in the stunning views of Machhapuchhre and associated peaks reflected on the lake. Enjoy the evening wandering by the lakeside, and celebrate these beautiful moments with your team that you have freshly accomplished.

Day 13
Drive Back to Kathmandu (1,400 m) in a Tourist Bus

Today is the final leg of the journey. Heading into Kathmandu from Pokhara, the route goes through the river side, passing lively towns and green hills along the way. In the evening, you can take rest or stroll around the bustling streets of Kathmandu.

Final Departure

What documents are required to get a tourist VISA to Nepal?

You need an original passport with validity of at least six months and you need two passport size photos and Cash for visa fee.

Are there ATM’s on the ABC trail?

ATM’s are not available on Annapurna base camp trail. ATM’s are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara So before starting the ABC trek, make sufficient money for start to and end of the trek.
